SAM Magazine—Natick, Mass., October 26, 2026—Seven snowmaking teams have been chosen to participate in the 12th annual I AM a Snowmaker contest, sponsored by HKD Snowmakers, selected from dozens of alpine and cross-country ski areas across North America that nominated their teams for the contest this fall.
The 2027 I AM a Snowmaker contest participants:
- Dartmouth Skiway, N.H.
- Deer Valley Resort, Utah
- Mount Southington, Conn.
- Quarry Road Trails, Maine
- Sommet Saint-Sauveur, Québec
- Whiteface Mountain, N.Y.
- Winter Park, Colo.
The seven chosen ski areas will now produce videos highlighting their snowmaking crews around this year’s “Shift Change” theme, which will show how their snowmaking crews pass the work from one shift to the next, including sharing updates, the camaraderie in the shop, and snowmaking action out on the mountain.
Since its debut in winter 2013-14, the I AM a Snowmaker contest has shined a spotlight on the critical role snowmaking teams play in the success of the mountain resort industry. This year’s videos will be posted in mid-January 2027 on SAM’s digital channels, where the public will vote for their favorite. The team with the most votes will be announced in February, winning an HKD Viper table and the title of 2027 I AM a Snowmaker Champion.
