Matt Pek Named as Crotched Mountain GM

SAM Magazine—Bennington, N.H., Nov. 2, 2026—Matt Pek has been promoted within Vail Resorts to general manager of Crotched Mountain, effective Nov. 9. He moves into the seat vacated by Deirdre Riley, who started as general manager of VR-owned Attitash and Wildcat, N.H., Sept. 7.

Most recently, Pek served as senior manager of environmental, health and safety at Stowe Mountain Resort and Mount Snow in Vermont.

“With more than a decade of resort operations experience, Matt brings a broad background in mountain leadership, safety, and guest experience to his new role as GM of Crotched Mountain,” said Tim Harris, chief operating officer of Vail Resorts’ Local & European Resorts. “His one-team mentality and innovative spirit will make him a strong leader, and we are excited to see the impact he will have on the team and the community.”

Pek has worked in various roles at Stowe, including patrol supervisor for the Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol. In his most recent role, he helped Stowe to earn the 2026 National Ski Areas Association Safety Award.

“My time at Stowe has been some of the most professionally formative years of my career,” Pek said. “I am looking forward to diving back into operations and working alongside a team of passionate leaders at a resort as unique and truly out of this world as Crotched.”

According to his LinkedIn, Pek holds a law degree from Brooklyn Law School.
