No-bolt sheaves
To remove the liner, the two sides are pressed together until the locking balls fall out. It is claimed that changing liners is considerably faster than on conventional sheaves. Also, that the construction allows the use of narrower sheaves, yet wider liners.
Over-snow vehicle
A new over-snow vehicle, the $39,000 Kul Kat, is now on the market. It is manufactured by Miller W Corp., Box 68, Stratton, Neb. — a 40-year-old farm machinery company.
It features a John Deere 225 hp turbo engine, and for power train, the hydrastatic 23 series Sundstrand.
Tracks are 60” wide with 17,280 sq. in. total area. Driver can adjust track tension on the go, if necessary. The hydraulic cylinder has a pilot-operated check valve on pressure side for fail-safe system.
Chairlift Grips
Heavy duty, chromium alloy, drop-forced steel grips for use on double or triple chairlifts with 1⅛” to 1⅜” wire rope are being introduced by Lift Consultants, 1355 Joliet Place, Detroit, MI. 48207. Wire rope size is stamped on the grip for identification.
The grip features a completely enclosed 19-pair Belleville spring column. Chairs may be slid along the rope without removing the grip by pulling back the piston with a special bolt attachment and ratchet wrench, thus opening up the grip slightly.
A medium-duty universal version of the same grip, made of the same materials, is also available for double chairs that do not have more than a 46 per cent grade and use ⅞” to 1⅛” wire ropes. In a detachable cylinder 12 pair fully-enclosed Belleville spring column provides the compression gripping force. With the help of an eccentric wrench the piston can be pulled slightly back, allowing the grip to slide along the rope without removing the grip.
