SAM Magazine—Bellaire, Mich., March 3, 2026—After more than 20 years of ownership, Trinidad Resort & Club, LLC, has sold Shanty Creek Resort to a new ownership group called Shanty Creek Ski and Golf Resort, LLC. 

Shanty Creek Resort is a 5,500-acre, four-season property that includes two ski areas—Shuss Mountain and Shanty Creek—five golf courses, a variety of lodging and dining options, and several other amenities. The new ownership group reportedly has longstanding ties to northern Michigan, and its members bring a wide range of experience in development, food service, entertainment and property management, as well as resort and ski operations. 

“The new owners are a Michigan-based investment group, who are looking forward to working with staff, guests and the community to further enhance the beauty and the 60-year traditions of Shanty Creek,” said the new venture’s executive vice president Harper Sibley, adding that the group is planning several improvements including hotel updates, a new website, and expanded family-friendly activities. 

The resort’s current team will remain in place. 

“We’re excited to work with the new ownership to continue the traditions that make Shanty Creek a getaway destination for many years to come,” said Shanty Creek Resort COO and general manager Andrew Reh.
