“If this last year has taught us anything, it’s that the most important thing we can do as individuals and companies is help support those who help us,” said Alterra CEO Rusty Gregory.

Gregory and Alterra founders Henry Crown and Company and KSL Capital Partners contributed $2.6 million to fund grants. Subsequent financial support for the Community Foundation will come from public donations.

The foundation will focus initially on granting emergency relief and hardship assistance to those in need due to unforeseen circumstances, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters, crime, illness or death, and other emergency hardships. Individuals and companies in the U.S. and Canada are eligible to apply.

“Our employees, vendors, guests and neighbors create the very spirit of the mountains that draw visitors from all over the world,” said Gregory. “The Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation was established to offer some support to those in need and help them thrive.”

A grant committee comprised of representatives from each region where Alterra owns a resort, including Denver, where Alterra is headquartered, has been established to review applications and determine awards.

Applications are now open at http://www.alterracommunityfoundation.com.
