Billed as the “national market place for the ski industry,” the two Trade Shows, coupled with extensive Clinic programs of discussions, demonstrations and panel sessions, are scheduled for Treasure Mountains ski resort at Park City, Utah, from June 4-6 and at Mt. Snow, Vt., from June 10-13.
The Trade Shows will include both indoor and outdoor displays of essential ski area equipment and services and will be open to all Clinic registrants at no additional charge throughout the Clinic dates. They provide the area industry with its only opportunity to see and to buy area necessities gathered in a single location.
This year’s Clinic sessions will cover topics of extreme importance to area operators and staff members in a rapidly growing economy. Both Eastern and Western Clinics will include presentations by veteran area operators on Economic Considerations in Trail Design and Lift Selection; Trail Clearing Techniques; Slope Grooming Methods; Area Financing and Cash Control; Personnel Hiring and Training; Labor Relations; Concessionaire Management Relationships; Erosion Control; and Rope Tow Operations.
In addition, a U. S. Forest Service presentation on Avalanche Control, a special report on Condomoniums and a discussion of Ski Area Feasibility Considerations in Long Term Planing, by representatives of the Janss Corporation, will be presented at the Park City Clinic. Special Mt. Snow presentations will include discussions on Cafeteria and Bar Management, Water for Ski Areas and a consideration of various Telephonic Devices for Ski Area Uses.
The Eastern Clinic and Trade Show will be conducted in conjunction with the 3rd annual convention of the National Ski Areas Association which will be held concurrently with the program. The Eastern Area Operators Association will also meet during the Clinic’s long weekend.
In the West, the Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association, the Sierra Ski Areas Association and Rocky Mountain Ski Area Operators Association have all scheduled meetings at Park City during the Clinic dates.
Attendance at the Clinics is open to all ski area personnel. A registration fee of $30 for the first registrant from a ski area and $20 for additional registrants from the same area is charged. Special accommodations packages are available for participants at Park City directly from Treasure Mountains Inn, Silverking Lodge and Chateau Après, and at Mt. Snow from Snow Lake Lodge, all right at the areas.
