Hedco Mark II
Hedco’s new totally electric Mark II airless snowmaking machine uses the same “nucleation” principle as the H-2d. At 200 gpm, a lower-capacity system than the H-2d (and lower priced), the Mark II features push-button electric drive, low center of gravity for easy hill operation, two hand-operated jack-type anchors, 12 separately valved nozzles and weighs in at 1,200 pounds. Snow throw is 90-130 feet with an air capacity of 20 cfm, 80 psi. Water pressure range is 150-500 psi.

Year-round snow
Poly-snow is an artificial snow surface constructed by laying strips of synthetic turf and white plastic beads over a compacted slope. The surface reportedly gives a sensation of skiing under spring conditions. According to the manufacturer, no special skis are required, and Poly-Snow can be installed on any slope and requires minimal maintenance. Leasing arrangements are available.

Self-contained toilet
The Jet-O-Matic, a self-contained chemical flushing toilet, reportedly reduces waste by 99 per cent and requires no water or sewer connection. The recirculating toilet is available with either electrical, air pressure or foot-operated flushing devices. Several major ski areas, the manufacturer reports, are now using the unit.

New from Ratnik
Ratnik’s new line of snowmaking guns and high pressure hydrants includes the Snow Giant II snow gun, an improved version of Snow Giant I, with a redesigned internal nucleator and a 125 gpm water conversion capacity. Total weight is 60 lbs. for the sled-mounted unit.
Snow Giant III, weighing 120 lbs., uses the same internal nucleation principle as the II but the water capacity is up to 360 gpm. The gun inlets are 2½ inches in diameter.
