NSAA Members Tour European Facilities

Unbelievably and unseasonably balmy weather greeted more than two dozen NSAA members, spouses and guests who visited ski facilities in Switzerland and Germany in the early fall.

The NSAA group began to adopt local customs and traditional garb on their recent visit to Bavaria and Switzerland.

The group’s tour started with the Intermontec Trade Show in Munich and included visits to the factories of Kassbohrer, Stadeli, Kissling, CWA and Von Roll. In Switzerland there was an opportunity to inspect and ride the tramway system in Zermatt, then fly by helicopter to Saas Fee to examine more Von Roll lifts including one that runs under a glacier.

Kassbohrer supplied a bus, a driver, Herbert Groner, and a guide, Margit Schneider.

Needless to say, these serious inspection sessions were interspersed by considerable touring and sightseeing. Who could forget the “power shopping” expeditions in Zurich, Meersburg or Oberammergau? There were spectacular views from the Zugspitze near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a folklore dinner in Zurich and the Oktoberfest in Munich. There were visits to castles and churches, some went to museums and everyone enjoyed the magnificent scenery of Bavaria and Switzerland, bedecked with flowers.
