Hannah Barrego has been hired by Bear Den Partners as its executive vice president of strategy, operations and integration, a new leadership position focused on strategic execution and operational alignment across the company’s portfolio of ski areas.
Barrego joins Bear Den Partners with nearly two decades of experience in the ski industry spanning resort operations, organizational strategy, and business integration. She began her career at Steamboat Resort, Colo., working in resort operations, including rental and retail, for more than seven years. She then served in leadership roles with Alterra Mountain Company, most recently as vice president of integration.
Her experience working at both the resort and enterprise levels is a combination Bear Den Partners CEO Jon Schaefer values.
"Hannah brings an exceptional combination of strategic leadership, operational expertise, and boots-on-the-ground mountain resort experience," said Schaefer. "She has a proven ability to align teams, turn vision into action, and build the systems that support long-term success. As Bear Den continues to evolve, Hannah will play a key role in strengthening our resorts while helping preserve the unique culture of each one."
“As a New Hampshire native, my family and I are thrilled for the opportunity to return to New England,” said Barrego. "What excites me most about Bear Den Partners is its commitment to empowering local leaders. The best resorts are built by people who know their teams, guests, and communities better than anyone.”
Bear Den Partners was formed as the entity that acquired Burke Mountain Resort, Vt., out of receivership in May 2025. It has since acquired a majority ownership in Smugglers’ Notch Resort, Vt., in February 2026. Berkshire East and Catamount in Massachusetts, owned by Shaefer, joined the Bear Den portfolio in March.
