SAM Magazine—Providence, R.I., Jan. 28, 2022—In an effort to improve snowsports accessibility, Share Winter Foundation has partnered with Motel 6 to provide mountain access and bring awareness to skiing and riding cost-barriers and the affordable options that exist to minimize them.Motel6SkiforAll

“With Motel 6 as our very first lodging partner, we are teaming up to prove that affordable skiing and snowboarding opportunities exist,” said Constance Beverley, CEO of Share Winter Foundation.

Through the partnership, Motel 6 will fund transportation to and from two mountain resorts for 150 children from five organizations across the state of California. “Thanks to the support of Motel 6, we have the opportunity to provide transportation for the children to and from the mountain, which is typically one of the greatest roadblocks to youth snow sports participation,” said Beverley.

Alongside the transportation initiative, Motel 6 launched a campaign with longtime ski enthusiast Joe Miron that presents a candid look at the challenges skiers and riders face when planning a ski trip on a budget. The wider campaign aims to complement Share Winter’s goal of making winter sports accessible to a broader, more diverse community.

In a heartwarming promotional video, Motel 6 follows Miron and his dog on various ski adventures, as Miron breaks down the expenses typically faced in pursuit of such a lifestyle.

"Joe Miron represents many of our guests and how they travel—those looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay while pursuing the things they love," said Motel 6 chief brand officer Adam Cannon. "We were inspired by Joe's passion for skiing and want to do our part in making those winter memories possible, so we're paying it forward by partnering with the Share Winter Foundation to make winter sports more accessible."

The company also taps into Miron’s 50 years of ski travel experience to offer tips on its website for circumnavigating some of the common ski trip expenses, including selecting affordable lodging, tapping early bird specials, avoiding peak periods, road tripping with pets, and seeking out unique or smaller locations.

To support the last piece of advice, Motel 6 has also partnered with Indy Pass to offer the hotel chain’s My6 members 10 percent off the purchase of adult and youth Indy Passes for a limited time.
