SAM Magazine—Natick, Mass., June 15, 2023—SAM's 13th Summer Ops Camp—an immersive, hands-on networking and educational event—is heading to Steamboat, Colo., Sept. 10-12, 2023.SOC 2023 HN This year’s camp curriculum will offer attendees a spectacular mountain environment and engaging activities. We’ll explore the positive effects of community connections, four seasons of activities and employment, and sustainable practices for both business and the environment. Together we will learn how to plan for a strong future of year round business.

“This is an exciting summer for Steamboat as we debut many components of [master plan] Full Steam Ahead and bring back our popular Steamboat Bike Park,” said Rob Perlman, president and COO of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “To share the excitement of our newest summer operations by hosting the 2023 SAM Summer Ops Camp is a thrill.  As summer operations become a more impactful part of our industry, the opportunity to connect, share, and learn from industry peers in a resort setting is a vital tool to creating meaningful programming and practices. We’re ready to welcome everyone to Steamboat, show off our progress, and engage with industry leaders.”

Hands-on education through workshops, a summer vendor pavilion, and experiential play will stimulate thinking and collaboration. Thought leaders and experts will facilitate discussions on key topics, from how to leverage available summer resources and expand summer offerings to trends in key activities and programming, such as mountain biking, kids play, glamping, and experiential programming. A complete list of sessions will be available shortly.

“The availability of investment capital is high, and the market indicators for a positive ROI on summer are strong,” said SAM publisher Olivia Rowan. “Growing competition and evolving consumer preferences demand creative thinking, though–and a long-term view to retain interest and relevance within the marketplace. Summer Ops Camp 2023 will help address the serious business of fun in a changing world. Together, we'll reconnect with thought leaders, reimagine the future of our four-season models and the customer experience, and reprioritize the way we do business, focusing on sustainability and growing need for outdoor access and exploration.”
