SAM Magazine--April 30, 2010--During its annual meeting, the Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association (PNSAA) announced the recipients of several awards. First, Keith Petrie was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Petrie managed Mt. Hood Meadows, Anthony Lakes, Mt. Spokane and Multopor Ski Bowl and served as chairman of the PNSAA Board of Directors for 11 years. In 1984, Petrie became the executive director of the Mt. Hood Recreation Association and retired in 1993.

Eric Lars Bakken, the mountain manager at 49° North, was given the Tower of Excellence award, which recognizes a ski area employee who has steadfastly contributed to the success of a ski area's operation.

Third up, Hollis "Gene" Rice, founder of Liftram, Inc., and Liftram Engineering, and longtime employee of Riblet Tramway Company, was presented the PNSAA's Industrial Strength honor posthumously.

Finally, Kim DiRienz was named the 2010 Forest Service Partner of the Year. DiRienz, a snow ranger and special use coordinator, administers the 49° North permit for the Colville National Forest.
