A new hospitality venture backed by Miami-based investment firm MAS Alpha Securities has acquired Meadowlark Ski & Lake Lodge in northern Wyoming, with plans to revitalize the property for the 2026-27 winter season.
The acquisition marks the launch of MAS Tierra, a hospitality brand founded by Jose Mas Jr. that will focus on “place-based, land-led experiences” in natural landscapes, according to a company press release.
“Meadowlark Ski & Lake Lodge has been a beloved destination for decades and I intend to maintain that integrity, while also expanding the offering,” said Mas in a statement. “The main goal is to respect the natural environment and atmosphere, while also stewarding a grounding, elevated and engaging experience.”
The new ownership group said it plans to build experiential programming around the surrounding terrain and seasonal activities, potentially including guided excursions, nature exploration, and backcountry-style experiences in the Bighorn Mountains.
The small ski area is one of five Wyoming Indy Pass partners. It holds a special use permit to offer skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, horseback riding, lodging, and other outdoor recreation activities in Bighorn National Forest.
“The Bighorn National Forest is a place of deep significance to this region and to the people who have called it home across generations,” said Amy Ormseth, acting forest supervisor for the Bighorn National Forest, in the press release. “We welcome partners who approach this land with genuine respect for its history, while also bringing new communities to the region to experience everything it has to offer.”
MAS Tierra said the Meadowlark acquisition is the first phase of a broader long-term vision for the Bighorn region.
The ski area itself has 14 trails spread across 300 acres of skiable terrain and more than 700 feet of vertical served by two chairlifts.
