Attendees at the 2026 PORA Lift Maintenance Seminar, Bear Creek Mountain Resort, June 2026.The Pennsylvania Outdoor Recreation Association (PORA) hosted its annual Lift Maintenance Seminar on June 30 and July 1 at Bear Creek Mountain Resort. The two-day event brought together more than 75 participants, including 40 lift maintenance professionals representing nine Pennsylvania ski areas, 18 instructors, and 20 inspectors from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Bureau of Occupational and Industrial Safety (PA DLI).
The seminar was structured as a rotating small-group format across eight technical sessions, giving attendees direct access to instructors with real-world field experience. The curriculum spans electrical systems, corrosion and NDT, workplace safety and rescue, gearbox and drive systems, and PA DLI documentation and inspection requirements.
Ski area personnel that completed the curriculum earned 16 CEU (continuing education units) hours across 11 courses recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
A second session is scheduled for Aug. 18 and 19 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in western Pennsylvania.
