SAM Magazine—Killington, Vt., July 17, 2025—Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports and the Bart Adaptive Sports Center plan to merge, forming what will be the largest year-round adaptive sports organization in the eastern region of the U.S.Vermont Adaptive. Bart Adaptive

Under the proposed plan, which is pending legal finalization, Bart Adaptive will merge into Vermont Adaptive by July 31, with all programs continuing without interruption. Both organizations have existing programs at Vermont ski areas. Bart Adaptive, founded in 2002, currently offers programs at Bromley Mountain, Stratton Mountain Resort, and the Manchester region. Vermont Adaptive, established in 1987, operates at Pico Mountain, Sugarbush Resort, Bolton Valley Resort, and Saskadena Six Ski Area.

“We’re committed to maintaining the close-knit culture of Bart Adaptive and expanding opportunities for everyone,” said Erin Fernandez, executive director of Vermont Adaptive. “We work closely with our resort partners and are grateful for their support. Working with the staff at Bromley and Stratton will be no different. It will be a busy time in Southern Vermont!”

In 2024, Vermont Adaptive served more than 1,200 participants through 5,300 outings, and Bart Adaptive provides more than 600 winter lessons and 180 summer experiences annually to people with disabilities.

“This combination with Vermont Adaptive is exciting for our athletes, volunteers and mountain partners,” said Bart Adaptive board president Daniel Mon. “Joining such a respected organization will allow us to bring the experience of outdoor sports to even more participants as we build on our rich legacy.”

Mountain partners voiced support for the merger.

“This partnership strengthens our shared commitment to making year-round experiences accessible to all,” said Bromley president and GM Josh Witkin.

“We look forward to welcoming Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports to Stratton Mountain with plans to add events and summer programs in the future,” said Stratton Mountain director of skier and rider services Devon Cavagnino.

Both organizations are members of Move United Sport, which will enable a smooth operational and administrative integration.
