SAM Magazine—Danbury, N.H., July 23, 2026—Ragged Mountain has named Alan "Al" Wickstrom as general manager, bringing the longtime New Hampshire operations leader back to the resort where he previously led mountain operations.

Wickstrom rejoins Ragged after four years as vice president of operations at Loon Mountain Resort. Before joining Loon, he served as Ragged's mountain operations leader. A Danbury resident, Wickstrom said he learned "this business, both operationally and fiscally" at Ragged.

"Leaving Loon is genuinely difficult because I helped build something I'm incredibly proud of with a team and leadership I deeply respect," said Wickstrom. "But when the opportunity to return to Ragged came along, I knew in my heart it was the right decision. I'm excited to bring everything I've learned through the years in this industry and apply that knowledge to a mountain I already know well, and for a community I've been part of for a long time."

Ragged's ownership, local investor group SF Mountain Co., said Wickstrom's operational experience, financial expertise, and familiarity with the resort made him the right choice to lead its next phase of growth.

"Al represents exactly the kind of leadership we were looking for," ownership said in a statement. "He understands every aspect of mountain operations because he's done the work himself. Just as importantly, he understands Ragged—its culture, its people, and what makes this mountain special."

The appointment comes as Ragged pursues a multi-year capital investment strategy following its acquisition by SF Mountain Co. in late 2025. Planned projects include expanded snowmaking capacity, improvements to the base area and lodge, and other operational enhancements designed to improve the guest experience while maintaining the ski area's independent, community-focused character.

Ownership also thanked Brenda Belmonte, who has served as interim general manager since earlier this year, for helping guide the resort through the leadership transition.

Ragged Mountain, which offers 57 trails across 250 skiable acres, is about two hours north of Boston. It operates two high-speed chairlifts and a triple chair, serving 1,250 feet of vertical drop.
