SAM Magazine—Natick, Mass., Feb. 4, 2022—Nearly 2,500 votes were cast in the 15^th annual SAM Terrain Park Contest, in which a total of 40 entries from ski areas around the world looked to earn the top spot in one of the three contest categories: Bread and Butter, Terrain Park Feature, and, new this year, Park Edit. Some of the resort-submitted entries were featured in the November 2021 issue of SAM, and all entries were posted on saminfo.com, where the public could vote for their favorite in each category. 

The votes have been tallied, and the results are in. The winners of the 2021 SAM Terrain Park Contest are:

Feature: LibTech Poly (The Summit at Snoqualmie, Wash.)

Bread and Butter: Firecracker Rail (Giants Ridge, Minn.)

Park Edit: Woodward Eldora Goes Big (Eldora, Colo.)

Winners receive a prize pack of gear from SAM, an Arena Snowparks Rake, and priceless bragging rights for grabbing the most votes.

The Park Edit category debuted this year to recognize the quality videos resorts create in collaboration with the marketing teams, partners, and athletes, local to pro. The Park Edit category replaced the Terrain Park Event category this year in response to the event-light Covid winter of 2020-21. The new category proved popular, and will remain a part of the annual contest moving forward. 

The SAM Terrain Park Contest exists to showcase the creativity, hard work, and progression of terrain park builders. It serves to inspire those in the mountain resort industry to continue refining their offerings, and reinforces the importance of terrain parks in the overall operations of a ski area. 

In an effort to continue growing participation and to make it easier for ski areas to submit their entries, SAM will call for submissions for the 2022 Terrain Park Contest later this winter.
