SAM Magazine—Lincoln, N.H., March 11, 2022—Vice president of operations Brian Norton has been named the new president and general manager of Loon Mountain Resort, effective April 1, 2022. Norton succeeds Jay Scambio, who was promoted in October to chief operating officer – day areas for Loon parent company Boyne Resorts.

Norton has served at Loon and Boyne Resorts since 2001 when he began his career as a lift attendant at Loon while attending Plymouth State College, N.H. Over that span, he has held several leadership positions, including director of mountain sports development for Boyne Resorts and VP of operations for Loon. “Loon has been my life for over two decades, and I am incredibly excited for the future—both for our team and our guests,” said Norton.  

“Brian is committed to excellence and has demonstrated that throughout his career,” said Scambio. In his current role, Norton oversaw the recent installation of the Kancamangus 8 chairlift and the successful re-introduction of lift-serviced downhill mountain biking to the resort. He is also a past member of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F27 committee on snow and water sports.
