SAM Magazine—Shell, Wyo., Aug. 7, 2026—Peter JohnsonAntelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area has appointed Peter Johnson as its new general manager. Johnson most recently led the Anthony Lakes Outdoor Recreation Association, overseeing Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort in North Powder, Ore.

Johnson brings 16 years of experience leading the redevelopment of Anthony Lakes. He will join Antelope Butte in October as the nonprofit ski area enters what its board described as its next phase of development.

"Peter has built a well-earned reputation as a strong, empowering leader who knows how to transform mountain operations into sustainable, thriving businesses. His experience aligns perfectly with our mission, and we are confident he is the right person to lead our team into this next chapter."

Antelope Butte has emphasized affordability and youth access in recent years, including offering free skiing and riding to guests ages 17 and younger. 

“I cannot wait to get started and to hit the ground running with Antelope Butte this October,” said Johnson. “The focus the mountain has placed on youth programming, keeping skiing affordable to all families, and the focus on the local community are the main drivers behind my excitement at accepting this position.”

Antelope Butte is a nonprofit mountain recreation area located in the Bighorn National Forest near Shell, Wyo.
