SAM Magazine—Killington, Vt., Nov. 7, 2025—Killington Resort / Pico Mountain has launched a new charitable and sustainability program, Upward & Outward, starting with a $100,000 commitment to support the resort’s Jamaican employees whose families were impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
Through the Upward & Outward Employee Relief Fund, each of Killington’s roughly 100 Jamaican team members will receive $1,000 in direct aid to help loved ones rebuild and recover in Jamaica. The resort also created a public GoFundMe campaign to raise additional support for affected workers in the Killington community.
“Upward & Outward is how we’re putting our values into action,” said Killington / Pico president and CEO Mike Solimano. “It’s not all about slogans or checklists; it’s about taking advantage of our independence to make real progress for our community, our employees, and the environment we all share.”
The Hurricane Melissa relief effort is one of two debut initiatives under the new Upward & Outward banner. The second—a $60,000 youth lease program—will provide free ski and snowboard equipment rentals to more than 300 Vermont students in Windsor and Rutland Counties through partnerships with six participating local shops this winter.
Killington plans to continue expanding the Upward & Outward program with future projects focused on sustainability, local partnerships, and employee support.
