SAM Magazine—Danbury, N.H., Nov. 6, 2025— SF Mountain Co., LLC (SFMC), a group of local investors with lifelong ties to Ragged Mountain, has acquired the ski area, which went on the market in March of this year. The group has pledged to keep Ragged affordable and rooted in community while investing in its future as a year-round mountain destination.Ragged Mountain Sale

The sale marks the end of Pacific Group Resorts’ (PGR) management of Ragged on behalf of previous owner RMR-Pacific LLC, an entity controlled by former PGR chairman Douglas Anderson that acquired the ski area in 2007.

PGR will work closely with the new owners and the resort leadership team over the next month to ensure a smooth transition and a successful start to the 2025–26 winter season, said PGR chief marketing officer Christian Knapp.

“The new owners are locally based and have expressed a strong desire to preserve the welcoming community vibe and partnerships that have made Ragged the go-to mountain for families in central New Hampshire,” he added.

General manager Erik Barnes will continue in his role, overseeing day-to-day operations under the new ownership and ensuring consistency for staff and guests through the winter.

“Ragged has come a long way in the last 18 years, and I’m proud of what we’ve built with our team,” said Barnes. “This transition brings in a group that deeply understands the mountain and the community around it, and I’m looking forward to helping carry that vision forward.”

SFMC is led by six close friends who grew up skiing at Ragged. It includes experienced professionals from across the outdoor industry and business world, according to a press release. “Ragged shaped our lives in a really personal way,” said SFMC partner Tristan Witman, who, according to his LinkedIn profile, is global finance director for Converse.

“We’re committed to building on what makes this place special—great skiing, great people, and a genuine New Hampshire mountain experience,” added SFMC’s Carl Rominger, who is also a Ragged staff member.

The group’s early priorities include employee retention, local partnerships, and exploring options for year-round mountain use, with further updates on investment plans promised later in the season.

All season pass products and reciprocal benefits with PGR, including access to Jay Peak, Vt., Wisp, Md., Mt. Washington Alpine Resort, B.C., Wintergreen, Va., and Powderhorn, Colo., will be honored for the 2025–26 season. Fully transferable any-day Mission Affordable 4-Packs will also continue to be available for purchase on the resort’s website.

About two hours from Boston, Ragged Mountain was first developed in 1965 and features 1,250 feet of vertical drop, two high-speed chairlifts, a triple chair, and a mix of terrain for all ability levels. The resort has seen substantial investments in the last two decades, including new lifts and snowmaking upgrades.
