SAM Magazine—Natick, Mass., Aug. 4, 2025—The 2025 Rise Up Challenge is underway, and voting is officially open. Now in its fifth year, this video contest shines a spotlight on a handful of talented young lift mechanics, rising stars who are essential to the future of mountain operations.
This year, five resorts each nominated a standout team member to be featured in a short video showcasing their skills, passion, and dedication to the trade:
Bogus Basin, Idaho — Maddie Baldwin
Burke Mountain, Vt. — Elmore Dickstein
Giants Ridge, Minn. — Neale Leete
Marmot Basin, A.B. — Stephanie Janzen
Mission Ridge, Wash. — Carter McGinnis
The resort that’s video receives the most votes by midnight on Aug. 15, 2025, will earn a $3,500 educational grant, courtesy of Leitner-Poma of America (LPOA). This grant supports ongoing training for lift maintenance professionals. In addition, LPOA will award a $1,500 grant to the runner-up and $500 each to the other three participating teams.

They keep people moving around the mountain, and more importantly they keep people safe. It is vital to support their continued training and education, and that is exactly what the Rise Up Challenge delivers.”
