SAM Magazine—Natick, Mass., Oct. 16, 2018—SAM has launched an open call for nominations to become a mentee for the second year of its successful Summit Series. The season-long program, aimed at SAM Summit Seriesdeveloping future industry leaders, creates a public dialogue between established and respected industry leaders and up-and-coming resort staffers. These important conversations will be shared in the pages of SAM Magazine and on SAM's podcast, PodSAM.

Potential mentees must be currently employed within the mountain resort industry and willing to critically assess their current skill sets and development. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 31, 2018. Supervisor, peer, and self-nominations are all accepted. Nominate here.

The 2018-19 mentors include the following esteemed leaders:

Kim Locke, Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Affairs, Lake Louise, Canada

Kim Mayhew, General Manager, Solitude, UT

Jay Scambio, General Manager, Loon Mountain, NH

Steve Wright, General Manager, Jay Peak, VT

The program will consist of six weeks of professionally facilitated group calls on topics directly related to leadership skills and the management of a snowsports industry business. Our facilitator, Paul Thallner from High Peaks Group, guides the mentor/mentee calls. Following the calls, mentees will participate in a deep dive assignment relevant to the call topic provided by Dr. Natalie Ooi and Colorado State University's Graduate Certificate in Ski Area Management Program.

A new addition to the Summit Series this year is one-on-one mentor/mentee calls to discuss career goals.

The Summit Series aims to fuel a movement that fosters relationships between the current leadership of the industry and those who would succeed them. Supporting this effort to develop new leaders are the Summit Series sponsors, MountainGuard and Leitner Poma.
