SAM Magazine-Vancouver, BC., Feb.21, 2007-Intrawest has made three executive management team appointments in the Intrawest Mountain Resorts Division, with one long-time employee departing in conjunction with the changes to the corporate structure. The new structure will serve to align management with the strategic direction and growth objectives of the Intrawest Mountain Resorts Division, according to the company.

Dave Brownlie becomes COO, Intrawest Mountain Resorts, Canada. Brownlie will be responsible for all of Intrawest's Canadian mountain resorts, adding Blue Mountain and Tremblant to Whistler Blackcomb, Whistler Heli-skiing, and Panorama. In addition, Brownlie will oversee the central sales and marketing functions that support the operating divisions across the company.

David Barry steps up to COO, Intrawest Mountain Resorts, United States/Helicopter Operations. This includes Copper Mountain, Winter Park, Stratton, Snowshoe and Mountain Creek, plus Steamboat once Intrawest completes its purchase of the resort. Barry continues to oversee Canadian Mountain Holidays and Alpine Helicopters.

In November 2006, Kevin Smith was named CFO, Intrawest Mountain Resorts. Since joining Intrawest in 1999, and most recently as VP finance, Smith has gained experience in all aspects of financial reporting, and business, strategic and capital planning at both the resort and corporate level.

"Dave, David and Kevin are all results-oriented leaders who have consistently demonstrated their ability to deliver revenue growth in our mountain resorts and provide exceptional value for our customers and our homeowners," said Hugh Smythe, president, Intrawest Mountain Resorts. All three continue to report directly to Smythe.

As part of the reorganization, Steve Rice, a nine-year Intrawest veteran and the former head of the Eastern mountain resorts for Intrawest. is leaving the company on Feb. 28. Rice had participated in the planning and review that led to the restructuring and was aware for several months that his position was being eliminated. "Steve always approached his job and its challenges with a sense of responsibility, duty, and good humor," Barry told Intrawest employees in a memo. "I count myself lucky to have had Steve as a colleague, a participant in difficult decisions in the past and into the future."
