SAM Magazine—Jackson, N.H., Dec. 12, 2016—The Northeast's biggest cross-country ski center just got bigger, thanks to the completion of a $500,000 capital expansion project. jacksonXC esizeNew for this season, the Jackson Ski Touring Center added four new trails totaling six kilometers in length, and also built eight new trail bridges. It is the most extensive expansion in the facility's 44-year history.

The Jackson Ski Touring Foundation is a community based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, chartered in 1972 to maintain trails in and around the village of Jackson. Funds for the expansion were raised during a two-year capital campaign. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new terrain was held on Nov. 14.

The expansion isn't the only good news for folks at Jackson Ski Touring Center: in early December it was recognized by readers of USA Today as one of the “Top 10 Best Cross Country Ski Resorts in the U.S.”

“We hope the exposure for Jackson XC, as well as North Conway [eight miles north], combined with plenty of natural snow, will make this a record year for us,” said Breanne Torrey, Jackson Touring Center executive director.
