SAM Magazine—Timberline, Ore. Feb. 5, 2016—Registration is now open for the 2016 session of Cutter's Camp—the industry's longest running gathering of terrain park professionals—which will be held at Timberline, Mt. Hood, Ore., May 9-13.

This year's program features on-hill and classroom workshops, including a new one-on-one customized operator coaching program. Also new this year, Cutter's Camp will be welcoming Colorado State University's Ski Area Management program to cover business topics relevant to park managers. Attendees will also participate in the annual grooming demo with machines from PistenBully and Prinoth, as well as on hill practicum for the NSAA Freestyle Terrain Resource Guide.

More topics to be covered during hands-on sessions include:

• lessons learned from terrain park court cases

• creating a budget and financial planning for park programs

• events and contests

• design and construction of snow and man-made features

• pre- and post-lost risk management strategies for your park program

• social media and parks

• snow science: how to get the most from your product

• guest education

• staff training…

…and much, much more

For the past 13 years, Cutter's Camp has fostered an open dialogue between terrain park managers and park staff from around the world where they can share industry best practices on park safety, risk management, design, construction, machinery, marketing, events, operations, and management.

Timberline is located near the top of an 11,245 foot volcano and is the only ski area in North America that's open all 12 months of the year, making it the perfect location to host this unique Camp experience. The resort has long been a leader and trendsetter in the world of freestyle terrain, known for having some of the best parks in North America.

This season's snowfall total at Timberline has already reached 364 inches with a reported average base depth of 141 inches. Thanks to this deep snow, campers will enjoy a large “sandbox” to play in for the on-hill portion of Camp.

Cutter's Camp is based on the belief that the key to a successful terrain park program is knowledgeable, informed, and well trained staff—regardless of a resort's budget, equipment, or snow conditions.

The five-day Cutter's Camp session at Timberline starts at $1,265 per person. Prices include all meals, lodging, camp sessions, airport transfers, on-hill operator coaching, grooming demo, off-site trip to Windells, and welcome bag. Space is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
